Dave Wallace & District's Feasibility ("Sales") Committee Give The Green Light For The Controversial Global "Taj Mahal" Project!

Staff report

Watch exclusive: During an evening workshop at the FBISD administrative building today, Dave Wallace, former mayor of Sugar Land and self professed fiscal conservative, gave the green light for spending nearly 27 million dollars of PUBLIC funds for the construction of the Global Science and Technology Center (GSTC) against his and Sonal Bhuchar's earlier claims that the center could be funded mostly with private funding. Naturally this was a pre-election campaign myth that was predicted by many opponents for this tax funded project at the central office.

Two days following the most recent BOT election, the committee wasted little time in pushing this duplication of the HMNS-Sugar Land (Museum), Jenney and company have got what they expected from this hand selected group that was not left open for public nomination. Approval to move forward with public monies from district funds to build what has become known as "Jenney's legacy", while the district is running 10 million dollars in the red. According to unofficial reports by one director at the HMNS-Sugar Land, this will probably mean the end of that project in Telfair since it is funded by private sources and can not compete with such a facility only 1.5 miles away. Interestingly enough and according to sources, Wallace was also involved in shilling for that project too when he was mayor.

THIS STORY WILL BE UPDATED AS NEEDED!

From the first hand reports I've received on this the "committee" had absolutely no negatives about this project, but knowing some of these committee members, that is no surprise. They were picked for just this purpose. I wonder how people qualify for such a list?

In my life, I have never seen an entire panel of "older people" so enthralled by a vacuum cleaner salesman!! God help us all if we cannot understand how to use real science and real scientific studies to effectively address "science" education instead of blind "belief" in vendors and developers.

This is yet one more example of how This BOT does not mind wasting your tax dollars and lying about it ahead of time.

People with no common sense and no integrity will do anything, especially when its with your money.

With the apathy of voters, there is little anyone can do. It will take a scandal of great proportion leaking out that will require the state to step in, particularly, if it goes beyond local to national notoriety.

I think "vacuum cleaner salesman" is a step up from this. Listening and watching this show repeatedly over the last few months reminds me of those old gong shows with the hired actors telling those lame one-liners.

Just remember at the central office debt is of no concern since it is all our "free money". Just keep feeding the vendors and everything will be ok. Stop feeding them and you will see real problems.

I just wonder why they never put this on the ballot for the public to decide on?

I've just heard from several sources that when community members made FOIA/TPIA requests from Dr. Jenney, that they waited until the 10 days had run out and then refused to answer any of the questions that he agreed to answer in front of the board in early May. In return for their filing fees, copying and labor the requesters got Feldman attorney responses along with a copy of the online version of the sales pitch for the GSTC.

ISN'T THAT OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE AND A VIOLATION OF TPIA/FOIA?
