FBISD Vendor In The News In San Antonio (Reports Say FBI Is Investigating)

Review this link sent to us by a watchdog member today regarding the vendor (PBK) involved with the "Global Science Center" proposed by Dr. Jenney recently with NO apparent price tag: http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2009/01/pbk_architects_judson_isd.php

Maybe PBK and affiliates heard about the 100+ million dollar surplus fund (fund balance) saved from past bond-debt sales?

A little off topic but still related due to a question regarding transparency. So I ask a burning question, why has FBISD hired another one of Feldman & Rogers Lawyers for an inside position? Isn't it enough to have re-hired Feldman & Rogers as the district's attorneys as well as to have hired one of its attorneys as its inside staff attorney?

Now, yet another, as Human Resource Compliance Coordinator so says her business card. But her business card makes no mention of the fact that she is also an attorney. Personally, I like to always be in knowledge of the fact that I am speaking to and/or being questioned by an attorney in any and all circumstances so as to give me the opportunity to have my own attorney present to make certain that my legal rights are protected and not violated. Is it just me or is it something not quite right about this lack of transparency?

Thank you for sharing that anonymous. Many of us are very much concerned with these vendor relationships and how cozy they are. Ck out the recent post on the vendor PBK and the reports of the FBI investigation into a San Antonio district and PBK.

I appreciate the article linked directly. So often they aren't or are dead links.

Amazingly in the newer article on the SA school district you see the Feldman law name again. Is that the same law firm involved with the 2007-08 SLAPP-suit against GISDwatch and is a current FBISD legal vendor?

I wonder why our local prosecutor doesn't look into cases coming out of our school district like the one in San Antonio?

I'm beginning to think that not enough critical thinking is being used. If laws and rules are in place, why not follow them? When in doubt or not in doubt, follow the dictates of the rules/guidelines.

often the rules are created and holes left in them for the benefit of those reaping the profits. it is funny when even those that push to create such rules to limit competition don't follow them either creating a much larger problem like this one.

If wrong doing continues to reign unchecked, self destruction and implosion is an inevitability.

I wonder if this is why Smelley has decided not to re-up for the board?

Regarding the disparate treatment of East versus West in FBISD: When you think about it, as has been stated many times over, the crux of the matter and root cause can be related to the absence of single manager districting in FBISD. If all of the BOT lives and has political support from one side of the district (West), then it stands to reason why the other side (East) is forgotten and treated like Cinderella. It is not ethical or professional nor does it exhibit leadership of character, but, nonetheless, that's the truth of the matter.

Another, ironic truth is that those commenting on the ease of the meeting in one part of the district are unlikely candidates to embrace likewise the other part of the district. So the Cinderella story is an entrenched continuation sprouting from the disparately of truth that is not pretty.

good point anon. SMD would help bring home rule to the school district rather than domination by the special interest vendors and big development companies.
